The route in short
We return again to the Alpe Adria Cycle Path, in the direction of Tarvisio. But be careful: at km 7, we turn onto the SS 54 and we keep it for 2 km, until we pass the Tarvisio Boscoverde railway station (km 9). Immediately afterwards, we turn left in the direction of Rutte Piccolo. Near Plezzut, we ride on the SS54, which will take us first to Cave di Predil, then alongside Lake Predil (km 20), and finally to Sella Nevea (km 30). We descend to Chiusaforte (km 48), where we take the Alpe Adria Cycle Path again. Near Moggio Udinese, we travel a few km along the SS13 Pontebbana. Then we follow the direction of Amaro, crossing the Fella on the secondary bridge and, after a few km of the SS52, we enter Tolmezzo (km 74). Here begins the Valle del Bût: we ascend it first along secondary roads, on the left-hand side, then along the low-traffic SS 52bis. Immediately after Paluzza (km 93) we reach Timau (km 99).
Attention
Watch out for stretches of state road: SS54 in the Tarvisio Chiusaforte section, the short stretches of SS13 Pontebbana and SS52, be-fore Tolmezzo. Before Timau, there is a long stretch on the SS52bis.

Environment and Landscape
We take the Alpe Adria Cycle Path again and we head towards Tarvisio, but without entering it. After a few kilometres we exit onto the SS 54 and we keep it for 2 km, until we pass the Tarvisio Boscoverde railway station (short tunnel). Immediately afterwards, we turn left in the direction of Rutte Piccolo, which we pass. We take the SS54 again, which will take us first to Cave di Predil, then alongside Lake Predil, and finally, with a beautiful alpine climb, to Sella Nevea. With a pleasant descent, we arrive near Chiusaforte, where we take the Alpe Adria Cycle Path again.
At Moggio Udinese, we are obliged to ride a few kilometres along the SS13 Pontebbana. Then we head towards Amaro, crossing the Torrente Fella. A few kilometres on the SS52, and then we enter Tolmezzo, the capital of Carnia, where the ascent along the course of the But Torrent begins. We pass Sutrio, cross Paluzza, and, with a final effort, reach Timau.
